There is a Chinese term for Go called “weiqi”, which stands for the game – it is the name Go in Chinese.
Go can also be called “baduk”, which refers to Baduk in Korean. The game of Go may appeal to non-Go players if they compare it to ”Pokémon Go”, ”CS:GO”, programming languages “Go” or “Go-Go dances”.
If you want to be on the safe side and prevent accidental miscommunications, you can also use names such as baduk and weiqi to describe the Go game to your conversation partner.
